I was flipping from Firefox to Photoshop when Firefox froze. Then I force-quit FF and my dock reset itself to the default apps and positions. Huh?? My computer then froze and I had to manually shut it off.

Any ideas on what happened and if I can get my old dock back without redoing it? (not that it's a big deal, just confused). Thanks!

Unfortunately, it sounds like somehow your .com.apple.dock.plist file in your home/library/preferences directory must have gotten wiped. If you can find a copy of the old file or figure out if it's been moved to somewhere else (run a search), you can just replace the new one that has probably appeared in that folder. Otherwise, you'll just be stuck redoing it (kinda a hassle, but at least it's not too bad a hassle).
