Hi, so I've attached an ethernet adapter for internet into my Macbook (usb port).

I've noticed whenever I open the mac from sleep, the dynamic ip address of my broadband router changes! Is this fixable? I don't want the dynamic ip to change all the time! Thanks!

Is this the macs internal address (192.160.x.x), or your internet ip address?
If it's the internal address, then your router is providing that, and you can (and you'll need to read the manual for this), set it to reserve the IP in DHCP for your ethernet adapter, or you can set it to a fixed IP in Network Settings on your Mac (as long as it doesnt clash with something else), set it to be outside the DHCP address range.

If it's the internet address of your router, provided by your ISP (mines 80.176.133.xxx), and that changes too frequently for your liking, then thats something your ISP needs to sort out.

And typically they’ll just suggest a static IP for an extra fee.

If it's a big problem for you, you can of course use no-ip.org or dyndns.org to set up dynamic dns. Get your client to check every half hour.

So regardless of your ISP frequently changing your external IP, you still get some connection to your services at home/office.

If the IP that an ISP is assigning to a modem is changing I would be very surprised if it has anything to do with a Mac.

OP must be talking about the local IP...and I suspect it's a situation like this one.

Yes i was referring to public ip address.. so most probably it’s my isp that’s changing this ip?
