OK… please excuse me guys as i am really panicking over here… I am running mac lion on my mid 2010 mac book pro.

I was just deleting old apps with app zapper. I deleted something called "App/Apps" from my application folder, I did it coz i was deleting all the old software of my old 3g Internet dongles and this app's icon was shown as one of the internet application's logo. When i added it to Add zapper it showed me a "applications" folder and couple of other stuff… i found that weird but i thought it was that particular app's own folder. I had No ****ING(excuse my language i'm close to tears.) idea that it was actually my entire application folder with all of my apps. so i hit "zap". When i realized with horror that my entire Adobe photoshop had disappeared from the Application folder grid from the dock. i canceled emptying trash. and tried to " Put back" the application folder in the trash. But that has not been possible and i tried copying all the apps from trash and put them back in the Application folder under "home" but its juss worked for 2 or 3. Now i am panicking and at the verge of a breakdown. now any app i click it says it cannot open the app, coz its in trash.

Hence i would like to know if its possible to do something of a system restore back to the point before all this Chaos. please….. T_T

Do you have a recent Time Machine backup or clone?
And have you tried putting the files back into the actual Applications folder, residing at Macintosh HD / Applications, accessible via CMD+SHIFT+A in Finder? The Applications folder inside your Home directory (CMD+SHIFT+H) is not the correct folder.

PS: No uninstall applications are needed to uninstall applications in Mac OS X:

Open Trash, and Open Applications in two seperate Finder windows and simply drag the applications you want back into the Applications folder.

I disagree, I use an app called App Delete that does essentially what is described in that guide and does it quickly and fast. I just drag the app I want to delete and it moves all the files associated with it to the trash. It's much easier than delving through the process above especially for a novice.

But those applications are not as thorough as Finder*, and if one is a novice, that guide, or this video (built on that guide), show how it is done for those novices, thus they can learn. But then again, as I learned recently, is not an aspiration for many people anyway, thus often my saying, that I want to learn something astounds people.

Perhaps but manually searching and going through a ton of files that are confusing and etc takes a long time. I know for sure that the elderly people I tutor would have no idea how to do this on their own, and dragging an application to another application and hitting delete is far easier.

Thanks a lot… yes figured that much out and copied most of the apps to the App folder under the hard disk… i have lost all the apps from A to some of F, Entire adobe line up with calibre and filezilla. my only worry is app store coz that's the only thing i don't know to reinstall. One thing i regret never bothered with Time Machine.

I still cant figure out couple of things, what happens to the applications folder with all the applications, sitting in the trash ? and my launch pad is still empty.

If you're talking about Mac App Store applications (which I assume you are), just open the Mac App Store and redownload whatever apps you have accidentally removed. Just click the 'Purchased' tab on the top of the window and you can see all of your previous purchases from the Mac App Store.

Reinstall Mac OS 10.7.4, or 10.6.8 depending on your OS. You can download the updates directly from Apple's site and install them. Mac App Store may reappear when you install an OS update...

yeah i'm trying to do that, but every time i try reinstalling lion 10.7.4 i am getting an error. Isn't there some way i can just reinstall app store separately somehow…? Why do apple people have to make it so complicated… cant believe got to reinstall the whole OS juss to get back the appstore.

You can boot in recovery mode if you have Lion (reboot and hold command- R before the Apple appears on the grey screen) and reinstall. This will bring back all the OS X apps like Address Book, Calculator, Dictionary etc...

can you drag them out of the trash and put them back in the /HD/ Applications folder?
