Hi all -

I've got an iMac DV (slot loading 2000 vintage) that's been acting up lately.

When I booted this morning it started making this horrible loud buzzing noise out of the speakers. It hasn't stopped. I think it's possessed.

The only new app I've installed lately is Skype (http://www.skype.com) and have been using it for a while with no problems whatsoever. I'm running OSX 10.3.5.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Is my little mac destined to end up as landfill?

Thanks!

Have your tried starting it up with the extensions off? Start up with the shift key held down. Are you running OS X? Which version of the OS are you on?
Lastly, you could try a PRAM zap- Hold down "Apple-Option-P-R" until it bongs the start-up chime three times then release.

good luck

Cat? Cat from G4TechTV?

Well, I have seen a PRAM reset fix everything from speakers to hard drive's...So it just might work.
