my external isight video is so very dark

Hi guys,

I got a new external isight today and tested it in ichat and quicktime and it seems so so dark. its nothing compared to my old logitech. Its darker then any webcam i have ever seen. is this normal? is there a brightness adjustment i'm now seeing? or is this a common defect?
