Borderline feels like I'm bruising my face, lol. My skin is pretty sensitive to this kind of thing (I get similar redness on the bridge of my nose when I wear sunglasses, but it's not nearly as pronounced), so I'm not totally surprised. I'm just not sure I would want to wear something that presses on my face like this regularly.

Before anyone remarks, I've already tried all the ways to adjust it short of going back to the store to get a different size strap, which I don't think would actually help since most of the time it already feels loose on my head.

Was this the dual loop?

The fancy single strap isn't usable IMHO. I wanted to use it as it's cool and fancy, but it's too painful.

I don't have a tall nose bridge, so instead I get light leakage.

But my cheekbones and forehead are starting to hurt after 5 days of light use.

I'd say Apple needs to address this issue....

It looks like you have a poor fit. I was getting similar marks on the side of my nose from lens bite, and those were cured by changing the light seal. When the fit is right, you will not get pressure on an individual spot, but it will be distributed evenly around the entire light seal cushion.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it might help you here as well:

It seems (internet) that Apple Vison Pro Light Seals use a three character code. In the example 23W The first character (2) represents overall width the second character (3) represents depth and the third character (W) represents nose bridge width (N=narrow, W=Wide).

Apple Vison Pro Lght Seal Cushions come in Narrow, Wide, Narrow + and Wide + with the plus sizes being thicker/deeper.

I had read that there are 26 total variations. From what I can tell there are three widths (1,2,3), five depths (1,2,3,4,5) and two bridge widths (N,W). This would be 30 variations if all combinations have been produced.

There are also (obviously) 2 band styles, each comes in S,M,L.

We have two light seals here (21 Wide and 25 Wide), and I can tell you that changing between the two has a profound effect on field of view, glare/flare, light leakage, and comfort. We are both pleased so far but we are headed to Apple Store to make sure that we have the perfect fit.

In my opinion, in many cases getting this right will be the difference between enjoying this device or not.

You got off easy. My face was much worse than that just after the 30 minute demo. It didn't really feel uncomfortable to me while wearing it but man my face was wrecked.

I would post the photo but I don't really put photos of myself on MR.

Agree
Hardly anyone in the mass market is going to want to

AVP v1 is DOA as a mainstream product
Not trying to be a hater, I was super excited about AVP but after 5 days I have to agree. Not a finished product and just can't see mass market adoption in its current or similar form factor, especially at this price point.

Think of this, to achieve mass market /mainstream adoption, women will have to want to use it. How many women do you think will want to use it when it causes these lines on your face, messes up your make up, and your hair? Very, very, few.

Nice to see that making jokes that are rude about other users seems not to bother moderation staff, but I say something like “that’s what she said!”, and my comment gets removed.
The mods may have guessed that the reason I don't show photos of my face here is because I don't look as good as the OP. Or they took it correctly as a joke. Or they've not read it yet.

I'd say it was DOA as a mainstream product the second they announced the price, but I get your point.

What I don't get is how some people on here can use it for hours on end. Makes me wonder if maybe I should go into the Apple Store and get refitted.

Different pain tolerances and a lot of overweight people. A chubby face provides more cushioning.

Not at all. There should only be light pressure when your light seal is properly fit. If you have to crank it down so that you have marks on your face, your light seal is the wrong size. Mine was. The same as true of light leaks, etc.

That’s simply not true unless you have a custom mounting job. It’s just physics, there has to be more than ”light pressure“ to keep something that heavy up to your face if using one of the Apple provided bands.

I dont see corresponding marks on your forehead…it maybe that you are wearing the solo band at an angle that puts all the pressure down on your cheek bones. try adjusting to get more on your forehead. And i guess the next question is, how quickly does it clear up? And is it painful? If it clears up relatively fast and isn’t painful then.. wouldn’t worry about it. But i am fairly tolerant of such.

to clarify this is from already using the dual loop band. I ditched the solo band pretty quickly due to the discomfort.
