Not sure what happened but I noticed I had to keep entering in my passcode on each unlock, rebooted twice nothing took off my screen protector nothing.. went to set up face ID again and it says face ID is not available at this time.

I wonder because I made a appointment but is this something that's going to take more than 1 day? I only ask because of work I placed the appointment almost near the end of the day, I don't know if placing it more mid day would get my phone back same day?
 
Typically, with those symptoms - hardware failure. Needs service.

They might fix it same day, but only the store can tell you that. The repair cost could be pretty reasonable (under $200) so possibly worth repair; even if you decide to replace it's probably worth repairing so it gets the $210 trade value (if otherwise in good condition).

Why would I have to pay if I have apple care?
 
Oh man I was the last one to leave the apple store, they tried running the MRI on it but it kept freezing at the faceID part they tried everything so they could do it in-store but because of that they have to send it out and I have to wait 5 days but I think with them resetting my network settings I think it changed something on my watch as I can't connect to the cell network now.

Can you ask to get it replaced instead? you have AppleCare, I would ask for a replacement. 5 days without a phone is just crazy.

If they can't fix it then they will replace it they said with another model, good thing I have the Apple watch I Got last year I used to question why I would ever need the cell version of the watch.. well I found out now.
 
Is the phone getting fixed or replaced?

I did get an iPhone 12 Pro replacement myself a few weeks ago, and also got the "We might replace it with a different model" spiel at the store but ended up getting exactly the same.

Does anyone know how to contact support or the ARS? I'm really trying to find out when the phone is going to ship.. I drive a tractor trailer so not being able to get texts is starting to become a huge hassle.
 
I can't wait much longer so I ended up getting an iphone XR to hold me over hopefully by next week it will arrive so I can return the XR.
 
Still no word on Apple on the repaired phone shipping but the XR came in today so now at least I have a working phone again.

I had issues with faceID on my 13PM, I had AC+, contacted support and got an express replacement (they send me a refurb, I can the set it up and then ship my old phone back) - where are you located? Is express replacement not an option in your area?

I'm in the US I went in the Apple store, they didn't even say anything about a express replacement

You’re spot on! Before you brought your iPhone 12 Pro to the Apple Genius, did you peek at the settings, parts, and repair history? It seems like Face ID might be having a little trouble.

Also, did the Genius know that your iPhone is covered under AppleCare+?

So sorry for jumping into this thread—I just heard about your iPhone 12 Pro situation in another one.

Only by iMessaging AppleCare from Apple support app, ringing an Apple Store or ringing the AppleCare phone number.

Please have your Repair ID, any information such as your iPhone serial number and case number from AppleCare ready.

The first clue like I said before was the phone kept asking me for my passcode on each unlock, and it was becoming an issue with banking and logins with faceID used as the login.

They knew it was covered under Applecare as they even pointed it out on the device they used and showed me the cost of replacement without... I'm kinda annoyed even more because I'm finding out from here that they offer loner phones for this or express replacements. And as of 11:14PM Saturday I have still yet to hear when the phone will ship back to me yet...

I got a iphone XR to hold me over but my gosh the modem sucks on this thing and I'm pretty sure it feels smaller in my hand then the 12 Pro.. So I ended up getting a 16 Pro coming tomorrow.


I need to make a appointment to the apple store tomorrow for a repair for my beats and I plan on asking about my phone, It's been saying since Tuesday that they will be in touch and will be shipping out the phone soon.

Hey there! 👊 They can totally check on their end. Just send them your Apple ID email and phone number, and they can look it up on their iPads to peek at your Genius Bar history at an Apple Store.

My 12 Pro was Pacific Blue the 13 pro comes in Sierra Blue, I ended up gifting my mom the replacement phone (She was still on a 7+ and I have a iphone 16 pro coming in which will take over and then I'll do the return on the XR.. I just want to make sure the esim transfers over plus I need a phone while waiting.
