The title says it all, and thanks for clicking in.

My dad lived there for about 5 years, 20 years ago, and this is the first time he and my mom are returning to show this "wonderful" place to the kids. Anyways, we've been told to make some sort of itinerary as to what exactly we'd like to see. We are going for 2 weeks, and these are the somewhat obvious sights I've listed so far;

1. Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza
2. Maybe go to view sunrise from summit of Mount Sinai
3. Shop at the Khan el-Khalili
4. Visit Abu Simbel
5. I also think it'd be cool to drive to Jerusalem, either renting a car or taking a bus, any ideas/experiences with that?

Thanks for any other ideas,
-Steve

I got back from Egypt (Sharm el Sheikh to be exact) last week. Whilst we were there we took a 2 day roadtrip to Cairo; 7 hours there...7 hours back on bumpy roads through the Sinai Desert, it was like driving through a minefield!

I would recommend (in no particular order):

1. Pyramids of Giza (try and make the sound and light show if you can);
2. Sphinx;
3. Step Pyramid in Sakhara;
4. Egyptian Museum (the Tutankhamun exhibition is a must see);
5. Ancient City of Memphis;
6. Saladin Citadel (including the Mosque of Mohamed Ali)

If you've got any other questions just ask :)

Well we're planning on doing one "excursion" while we're there.
Either drive to Jerusalem and spend the night there, or, drive to Mount Sinai and see the sunrise at the summit of Mount Sinai.

Thanks,
-Steve
