So I tried all the find my iPhone features today, and here's what I think:

Map:
It's decently accurate, even on my 2G without GPS. It's pretty quick too.

Message / Sound:
I can already see uses for this. But, a few problems. If the volume is turned down, the sound will be really, really quiet. Also, if you reboot the phone both of them go away.

Remote Wipe:
Definitely works.

Anyone else have anything to share?

I played with it today also. It is a neat feature for those that have MobileMe and another feature for Apple to tout so they can sell MobilMe. You are right about the volume though, it should be set as loud as it can go. Another neat feature would be if you could listen to the mic on the iPhone from your MobileMe account.

I can tell you this, I see parents using this to track their kids.. LOL

I just tried messing with it and when I turn it to vibrate with the switch it doesn't make any noise.. Doesn't beep or vibrate.. I've tried many times and still the same thing.. Anyone else having this issue...

You have to make sure you have location services on and make sure you have push on also. When you login into mobile me give it a couple of minutes and it should say that your online.. Did you turn on find my iphone under your mobile me mail account on your phone...?

Wow! I cancelled my AT&T FamilyMap service because of this. MobileMe is far more accurate than FamilyMap.

If you can try flipping your silent switch for me and send it a messege. Did it beep for you?

James

HOWEVER, you can lower the volume down to the lowest setting and then the alert sound will be almost inaudible.
