I'm using a macbook white with the mac os x 10.5.8. The problem now is that I cant open anything on my macbook except for safari. I can access to open finder through file>open new file. But still everything is blurr and I cant click on anything there. my desktop is blank! but still the dock still pops up. Please help me! I'm a student and I really need to use my macbook. I dont have that much money to send my macbook to the app store... please help :(

Did you reboot? Even if you don't have a menu bar, just hold down the power button on the MacBook, it's really your only option right now from what you said.

I did... I've tried it a million times.. Is there any other way?

You might have a disk permissions issue.

Can you see the Spotlight icon on the top right? Click that and type in "Disk Utility" and click on it.

On the left side, click on Macintosh HD, then under First Aid, click "Repair Disk Permissions", let it run, then do a reboot and see if that works.

Try booting into safe mode.

Hit the power button to turn the Mac on.
Then hold the shift key after the chime.
Don't let go until you see Apple Icon and a progress bar.

I've had some very strange boot issues solved just by booting into safe mode once. If it boots normally into safe mode, then try disk repair and permission repair.

Good luck!!!

I really appreciate your help but once again, it didnt work. It's just the same thing :(

Do you have the original install DVD that came with the computer. Pop that in and hold the C key while booting to the DVD. Then run Disk Utility and do a repair disk and repair permissions both.

Take it to an Apple Store. They can repair the OS for you.

Without an Install disk, there's very little you can do.

Good luck.
