my firewire not working... how do i fix?

Hi

How can I know if my firewire port is working?
I remember I tried starting one of my Mac's and connecting it using firewire...

I don't know which one's firewire port is working... since neither one of them seemed to recognize itself when i started in target modus...

An SMC reset should cure your FireWire ills - I had a very similar problem (all FireWire ports were dead) in the past. Resetting the SMC cured it.
