Well wanted a MP since I was a kid and saw the commercials (24 now)
Bought a 1,1 for $300 was stock as stock came with 4gb ram and a x1900

Upgrade #1 Video card, upgraded to a personally flashed quadro 4500.. ran like crap..

Upgrade #2 Ram, Upgraded to 16gb, best $60 spent..

Upgrade #3 CPU, Went with the dual X5355's, best $35 spent lol

Upgrade #4 Video, Upgraded to a 560 Ti (fermi) Ran great! Wanted more..

Upgrade #5 Video, Went to an ATi 7770, thought with better driver support... no bueno..

Upgrade #6 Video, Gigabyte 7950 3gb card, sweet spot, runs perfectly... no lag, nada on osx yosemite.

Upgrade #7 Bluetooth Module

Upgrade #8 Wifi Airport Card

Today's last and final upgrade I needed for this machine was an SSD, didn't go with an expensive one, got one on sale at tigerdirect retail store for $99 (240gb Kingston)

This machine (MP1,1) I think will last another few years if software is still supported and maintained by the great devs who have helps us run ML, Mavericks, and now Yosemite..

My personal opinion on configuration
CPU: X5355
RAM: 16GB
Video: ATI 7950
HDD: SSD is required..

Useless info, just wanted to share that the 1,1 is definitely still a comparable machine to today's hardware.

That's very inspiring. I'm on the hunt for a new Mac aswell. But I don't know which one.

I want a 27" display or two,

I want a Mac that can take on anything I throw at it, both editing photos/video aswell as gaming (WoW and D3) at pretty high FPS.

Congratulations of a very nice piece of machinery.
