Finally retiring my iMac 24" 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Late 2006) 2GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256 MB with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. ...She is still working, but has really slowed down and no longer supported. :(

I bought a used one off eBay! Here is what I bought with my new used setup.

It has been so long. But, I had no reason to get another since my 2006 has been tried and true! It too was my first Mac!

iMac 27" (Late 2013)
OS X El Capitan 10.11
3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600MHz DDR3
3 TB Fusion with 128GB SSD
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB
Wireless Keyboard
Wireless Magic Mouse
Wireless Magic Track Pad
Balance of the Apple Care Warranty until September 2017

What can I expect with my new setup? It has 10.11, should I update software right away? Issues, or wait?

Nice, glad to hear it. One thing I've been contemplating is what is the likelihood of holding onto an iMac for an extended period of time vs. a laptop which tends to get replaced sooner - at least with me.
