My g5 pauses and the fan speeds up every minute ?!?!

mac newb here...I have no idea why, but all day today my month old G5 dual 2.0ghz has been pausing as I hear the fan speed up and get loud...

what's going on?? the fan speedup sound every minute or so is getting annoying as well as pausing what I'm doing...

this mostly seems to happen when im in a chat client. the spinning cursor will just randomly come on and pause everything up

I have the same problem, and no solution yet. Have endured it for over a year.
