My headset has a crappy mic that I'd rather not use. Unfortunately, when I plug it into my 2012 Air, it automatically changes from the internal mic to the headset one. In the sound preferences, the only input device listed is the headset mic (there is no option to change it back to use the internal mic). Is there anyway I can use my headset with the Air's internal mic?

Uuhm, shouldn't you look at the output devices?
And the internal mic of the MBA 2012 is crappy as well. If you buy a new headset of 20 euro's you're all set.

The mic is an input device. Output devices only let me control what the sounds comes OUT of. I bought my current headphones for their sound quality, they just happen to have a crappy mic on the cable, so buying a new headset just for the mic isn't an option for me.
