hi all, i've stumbled across a problem with my powerbook. ever since i installed tiger my 12" has been running hot, and i mean hot. it idles on the 63 mark and always blows the fan. recently my brother got an ibook and i couldn't but notice how silent it was and how i missed 'those days'!

anyway, this led me to do some digging and i found in my activity monitor that two proceses were running simaltaneously and taking 45% of the CPU, EACH. When was removed the other took the full 90%. Now here's the weird part, they run under root, so can only be force quit, and they come with every boot up. When i do quit em my book resumes back to 45 degrees (celcius). Now my only question is, what the hell are these processes and how do i remove them?

they're called 'supervise' and when i do a sudo ps -ux in terminal they reside from here,

/bin/sh/command/svscanboot
svscan/service
readproactitle service errors:.....................................

for what it's worth the PID is between 174 through to 179.

forgive me for being brief but i don't understand this all that much so i'm not really sure what else to say. I've read elsewhere that virex and tiger don't mix well. i did have virex on my laptop though it has been removed, whether that was successful or not is a whole other bag of worms.

any help would be greatly appreciated. i've since adopted my brothers ibook while he is on holiday :) - oh and he comes back tomorrow! lol
