My icons have a mind of their own....

I've been having an increasing number of minor problems on my machine (see sig), such as apps quitting themselves and occasional random freezing, but this is a new one. Suddenly all of my icons have gone haywire....check out the screenshots....

repair permissions, restart

icons go back to normal, i had icons change a few times on me and a restart fixed it
