I have an iMac G5 I bought about three years ago.
This AM it was working fine - then we experienced a power failure, lasting only a few seconds or so.
But now when I press the button on the back left side of the monitor, nothing happens. I tried holding it down for long periods of time, but still nothing.
I have checked the power outlets, extension boxes, etc. Everything else works fine, and I know for sure that power is getting to the iMac exactly as it did before.
Is there some special procedure I have to use to get this powered up again? One rather ignorant service person told me it was "fried" when this happened before. He was completely wrong - I have no reason to think that any damage was done to my computer.
This has probably happened before to others, so maybe there is an article I could review.
Thanks - - Bill S.
