Hi,

I've had my iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16, 3gb RAM, os 10.5.5) GHz for just over 2 years now and it is showing signs of slowing down.. things taking longer to close down, longer startup times, lag between switching apps.. etc.

Back in my windows days I would defrag and so on, are there similar things I can do for my mac to speed things up overall Perhaps using tech tool pro, or other tools?

Thanks!!
Ari

probably all the disk space youre using for data, apps etc. some apps also have login items or daemons which will slow down startup times.

free up 20% of your hard disk space by uninstalling the apps you arent using anymore and delete the login items you arent using in Accounts preferences. run an app to clear your logs and caches like the automation feature in Onyx and then reboot a few times and open up all your apps to rewrite the caches.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ran the automation with Onyx... and I think it helped. Any other ideas I can try?

Thanks!
