My imac ( a white plastic 17 inch model) has started to turn itself off. I have to press the on/off button to restart it all the time.

Anyone have any ideas why it's doing this?

Thanks

Something to do with the electrical current? Do you live in an area with frequent short power problems (lights flickering for a second or two), or could it be an issue with your fuse box?

Heat?

Hi,

Try checking the console utility and look at the logs to see whether there are any messages relating to the turn-offs.

Sometimes one of the temperature sensors gets a bit dodgy.

Also, make sure that the air intakes at the bottom of the case aren't blocked with dust / cat hair / etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Mark
