Hi guys !

I've beend backing up my entire iPhoto library on dvds for the past 2 days. Almost burning 8 hours a day.

I think that today I blew my superdrive. I've tried to burn a 2 layers dvd (the first one in 2 days) and when I came back to check on the status of the burning process, it was showing an error (can't recall what the windows said). Now, everytime that I put a blank dvd or even a commercial music cd or dvd, the drive spins for a few seconds, make all kind of weird noises and then the cd gets ejected.

It's the first time that I experience such issue. Could it be possibly broken because of me abusing it ? I've been using Roxio Toast 10.

Also, I don't have AppleCare. If it's really broken, should I just buy an external drive ? I saw a Pionneer 20X USB 2 drive at FutureShop for 60$. I guess that replacing the internal drive will be a lot more expensive.

Thanks for any advice.
