My imac won't start properly

When i start my imac(intel), I get stuck on a blue screen. I entered matrix(cmd+v), and it stopped on disk0s2: 1/0 error. What shall I do?? PLZ help

boot from the install disk and use disk utility from there


-Insert DVD
-Hold Option as computer starts
-Select the Installation DVD

-Let setup run, select language, and when the menus at the top are accessible -- select "tools" > "disk utility".


Verify the internal HDD, and check SMART Status (listed at bottom of window). Also repair permissions.

when you get it running properly, try resetting the PRAM.
