Hey just wanted to ask a quick question about my macbook. I've got the 2.16 core 2 duo one. It's got 2gb ram. I've kind of noticed recently that web pages will load slowly and just hang in the bar then finally load. I did a speed test with speakeasy and here are my results

Plugged into ethernet
download Speed: 4569 kbps (571.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 5344 kbps (668 KB/sec transfer rate)

Wireless
Download Speed: 4514 kbps (564.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 5203 kbps (650.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

What do you guys think?? Are these normal readings?? Also I have never used ethernet ever since I got my macbook and just did it for the first time today. I thought it would be faster then wireless but looks about the same according to these tests. So are these readings good, bad?

I just recently switched to Verizon/Fios and my current speeds are: 20559 kbps (2569.9 KB/sec transfer rate)Upload Speed: 4487 kbps (560.9 KB/sec transfer rate)those speeds are very good not the best, that being said a lot of sites do hang up on me as well,Youtube as of today is very slow and this site always takes a while to load, though it is worth the wait.:)

I too always wondered what was considered acceptable speed. Im using Road Runner. MC

Very rarely do you find internet fast enough to take advantage of ethernet vs wireless.

I also always thought that ethernet should always be faster then wireless which mine is but not by much.

One time I somehow managed to download Ubuntu in three minutes onto a thin client at school.

Now THAT'S ethernet for ya.

So, about 3.9MB/s.

CHCCS, Chapel Hill, NC. T3 lines on Compaq thin clients, connected to a server running WS2k3.

sweet deal, some schools don't have T3 particularly the private schools up here in canada. And the 2k3 server doesn't change a whole lot. :D
