I just got a low disk space message. This was a big surprise since I had 15GB free a few weeks ago and haven't put much on it since then.

So I brought up SysInfoPlus and it says the iPad only has 1GB total disk space.

Try a hard reset: hold the home and lock buttons down at the same time. If that doesn't work, try a full reset back to factory settings via your computer.

Before you restore to factory settings, look in iTunes at the bottom usage bar to see how is that memory being used (Music, Video, Photos, Apps, etc.), and you'll have a better idea on where to look for the memory 'leak'.

Then post your findings.

Plug that bad boy into iTunes and at the bottom it will tell you exactly what media is using what amount of space.

You should be able to find the culprit.

iTunes says I have 9GB free.

Are you thinking I should get rid of the iPad since I find ios devices too limiting unless they are jailbroken?

No, because I jailbreak myself. But you should realize that if your device isn't working properly, it might be time to look at what you have done post-jailbreak, and try a restore.

Let's face it. You would not walk into an Apple store with the iPad in it's present condition and expect them to help you, right?

I was thinking that they just meant you should restore the device using iTunes and see if the problem persists.

ok. I thought you were saying I shouldn't be jailbreaking.

It will be a lot of work to redo everything. My concern is that since I don't know what caused the problem I could go through all that work and then end up in the same situation again.

It never occurred to me that I might still have the problem after restoring.

I understand...it would take hours to restore my iPad the way it is now. But the only way you will know for certain is to do a full restore, not jailbreak, and see what transpires.
