I want to but kinda worried about all those articles on the net saying it kills battery life. Is that something I really need to be worried about?

Don't worry about it.

Some people complain about battery with every version of iOS. They also report Safari being 'snappier' in every new iOS as well so that is very fast now :D

OMG that is funny! Thanks for the laugh!

Don't upgrade an iPhone 4 to iOS 6. Its pretty laggy and it misses out on some of the good features of iOS 6 on the 4s and the 5. And if you keep iOS 5, you'll keep google maps.

If its new or refurbished then its gonna come preloaded anyways.

Yep, Just fyi my iphone 4 arrived from verizon today and it had iOS 6 preloaded.

If you don't jailbreak, then yes upgrade. iOS6 felt great on my 4S, especially Safari with the fullscreen and the awesome panorama.

If you do jailbreak, dont upgrade, get greenpois0n and jailbreak!! I love my 4S on 5.1.1 with my jailbreak but I'm definitely waiting on iOS6 jailbreak.

I got my 4S swapped for a new 4S after iOS6 came out, and my 4S came with 5.1.1. It was soon after the iPhone 5 release though, so maybe by now they come preloaded?
