Hi,

My iPhone 6 plus (i know its very old) keeps opening apps on its own and I think it could be Ghost touch bug.
I think its running iso 13 or 12 (not sure) and it has passcode.

I tried basic things like remove cover, clean it etc. but no luck and am ok to factory reset it to solve the problem. But i can't do it either from phone or Itunes. Even though its extremely difficult to reach "erase all content and settings" but i can't proceed further as it asks for passcode and it types on its own (ghost touch) and fails. I can't even make it to be trusted by laptop (itunes).

Is there anyway to factory reset it without typing passcode? I dont need any data or whatever.

Thanks

Unfortunately you’ve missed the repair program period.

Although Apple only provided such program for the 6 plus and I had the 6 not plus, but still had this problem after I had dropped the phone.

From what I read online back than it was because during the manufacturing process the chip didn’t get welt good enough to the mainboard and get loose from external force (drops) so this is a mainboard issue and won’t be fixed by a screen replacement🥲

Could be the digitizer behind the screen going bad. Same thing happened to my 1st gen iPad Mini. It would start randomly pausing and skipping ahead on Netflix or YouTube videos and opening apps randomly. Basically registering sporadic touches and swipes when the iPad would just be laying on the table. It gradually got worse until the iPad was unusable. I did all the factory resets and whatnot to no avail.

Like others have said it’s time for a new phone.
