Last Thursday night, I was one of the unfortunate people who waited in line all night at a carrier store (since Apple only specified Apple Stores wouldn't have stock) only to find out 9 hours later, they got no 7 Plus inventory in.
I don't live near an Apple Store. The nearest one is 2.5 hours away. However, this past Sunday the nearest one did get some inventory in.. so I reluctantly made the 5 hour round trip Sunday to get my new 7 Plus.
Fast forward to last night.. I had now owned the phone for 4 days. No physical damage, no contact with liquid despite the IP67 rating.
I'm using the phone as normal; everything is great. I randomly get a bunch of purple lines down my devices screen.. and it slowly fades to black. The LCD/Digitizer are now completely shut off. However the phone is still technically on (haptic feedback on home bottom, getting notifications on my Apple Watch).
Weirdly enough, only texting worked though.. and only the Scribble function. No voice dictation or anything.
I haven't seen this issue anywhere.
Anyway I had have a question. Apple created an advanced replacement for me (since going to an Apple Store on a 5 hour trip again is a huge hassle). They told me it would ship and get delivered within 3 business days.
Do you guys think this is possible given the shortage of inventory? Would it be a new phone since they just released? Not sure how they could have refurbs on hand already.
I've never had to do an RMA on an iPhone literally the same week as launch.
