my iphone question. not 3g related.

if i plug the iphone into my car stereo via the line in jack (not an ipod car stereo) and i got a phone call, i assume the audio would pipe through my car speakers.

but would the phone go into automatic speakerphone mode so that i could talk hands free? does the phone sense that there's a speaker hooked up and go into that mode? or will i have problems?

or if i use the data connection at the bottom? i have a cable that connects to that and splits into a car charger and speaker line in for the car stereo.

anyone use a setup like that at all?
