And it's an 8GB 2G. It's not the battery, it's been acting wacky for a while now. If I were to ask Apple to replace it for the out-of-warranty service charge, would they? Or is it too old now?

If they had any available (in store or through Apple Care), yes they would for a fee.

If they don't have any available, you will be asked to send it your phone to Apple Care and have them repair your current phone, for a fee (this will vary depending on what needs to be fixed).

I doubt they even have any refurbed 2G's laying around. You might get a "good deal" on a new 4s or iP4 refurbed.. but put that thang in a display case and get yourself a new iPhone they blow doors off the iP2.....:p

Not sure if they would, or even support that hardware anymore. Why do you still use that? You can get a 3GS free with a 2 year contract.

Yes they do.

If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.

Thanks everyone! I have and iPhone 4 already, but the 2G will foreve be my favorite iChild, so I want it to be working again. And hey, if I can have it brand new again for just $200, why not?

Get it fixed then place it in a glass case on a silk pillow.
