my ipod is screwed up i think i unplugged it during song transfer or something.. computer froze. Everytime i power up my ipod... it goes to the screen with an apple on it, and then restarts after making a hd click noise. It keeps doing this a few times before it turns off. Every once in a while i get a battery indicator that it is low.. but i tried to charge it for hours. and then it still doesn't work? comptuer won't even recognize it? What should i do?

Thanks

if all elce fails, put it in an airtight plastic bag with as little air in it as possible and put it in the freezer overnight, then whip it out mount it in disk utility and format it.

thats worked for me on 3 HD's so far, includeing a 4g 40GB ipod

is that a real method/ i really don't wanna mess it up to the point they won't fix/replace it.

Thanks

nevermind, i just noticed it's new, just call applecare and have them replace it.

be firm if they try and say you dropped it, HD's fail and they will probably pin it on you.

if it has some kind of dent on it they will be really pushy that it's your fault.

dont worry about the pulling it out while it was tranfering stuff, that would not damage it physically.

they are oblidged to fix/replace it, just call them up

oh and they may pull some ******** about needing to pay them to even speak to them, just say no you need the thing replaced or repaired you dont need technical support.

is there anyone else that may know how to fix this? i mean.. when i plug into the computer right now.. i get a lighning bolt battery icon.. then after like 5 minutes.. it tries to power up.. but it fails and makes the click noise, then i get the lightning bolt again?

ANYONE?

Thanks

also, does anyone have experience with returning something? do they ask alot of questions? and do you think i would get a brand new ipod 30 Gig?

give them a call

they ask you a quick "so what happened"
then they generally trust you
and will offer tech support

go through the motions
do what they ask

then they'll send you a box and shipping will be pre-paid
a few days later-- new ipod

no big deal
honest

going to an apple store gets faster service
but only faster by like a few hrs.

plus involves paying for gas
sometimes it is not faster

really depends

give them a call

if you have something to hide....
yea.
