Everyone on the forums said that ziphone cannot break you iPod touch, but I just downloaded it, installed it than pressed jailbreak and this is what happened:

black screen and text started running down the screen (like single user mode on a mac)
than it just stopped when it came to this "no such file or directory"

HELP ME!!!!!!

It isn't bricked (ie not recoverable at all), just something went wrong and you need to restore it. If you can't do that normally, you may need to get into DFU mode then restore from there.

Try forcing it into restore mode (hold down power and home buttons until you see the apple logo then just hold down the home button until you see the plug into iTunes screen).

....

OK, I held down those two buttons, then it just went black. then I pressed the home button which brought up the apple logo, and then it went back to the black screen + text (no such file or directory) !!!

.

please somebody tell me what to do.

the exact last message that showed up on the black screen is:

Jun 20 04:55:43:13 launchd[81]: can't exec /bin/sh for single user: No such file or directory

1. Plug it into your computer first & open iTunes.
2. Hold down the power and home buttons together until it restarts.
3. Let go of the power button but continue holding the home button.
4. iTunes should show your iPod now.

iTunes backs up your iPod. You can choose to restore from your last synced profile so you don't lose anything.

You're welcome. I don't recommend that you jailbreak now unless you need it. The official 2.0 firmware with the app store is right around the corner so if you can hold out until then, it will probably be better for you.

Well, ZiPhone is the best way to jailbreak. And it doesn't seem to work for you. So...

If you have the time, try it a few more times and it may work for you, I don't know. I have a 16 gig Touch and it worked fine for me.

But if it does mess up your iPod, try the steps to recover it again. You're in no danger of permanently bricking your iPod.

there is iliberty+ too, try that and see if it works

and when you have to force it into restore mode, it needs to be plugged into a computer

you could also try using winpwn or the equivalent program for the mac, of which i do not know what it's called
Pwning your iPod is fairly fast and very stable
try ziphone first and give winpwn a try as your alternative

the same thing happened to me ... did you try a different way first and it didnt work so then you tryed ziphone cause thats wat i did... if you deleted the process in the ctrl+alt+del and the ipod didnt show in itunes before you tryed to jb it then it wont work

the second time i tryed it, it worked and even if it doesnt then you can restore it again and know that ziphone wont work for you right?
its worth a shot:D
