I bought an ipod shuffle 512 a couple of weeks ago and it seems to skip. Not from track to track, but skipping within the song itself (ike a cd player skips when you bump it) Is this a common problem or did i get defective unit???
I thought at first it was a problem with my cd but i played it and its fine.

I'm definitely going to return it. If its a common problem then i likely wont replace it, but if its a fluke i would like another one.

Anyone else have this problem??? Any insight to why this is happening??

Thanx

Does the track play OK in iTunes? The ripped (imported) file?

You may have to rerip the CD with the error correction on in iTunes.
Go to iTunes preferences and under Importing, set the error correction when reading Audio CDs to on.

Then try re-importing it.

Physically, the shuffle doesn't have moving parts that can skip so that's why it's my guess that the importing process has failed.

Thanx Blue Velvet :)

I will try to import the cd again. I never thought about that because im a big ipod dummy ;) I think you are right. It seems to be just that one cd that the songs skip.

You have saved me a trip to futureshop, many, many thanx :)

Check to see whether the CD has a dirty or scratched surface. It may just have some gunk on it.

Use a damp soft cloth and always wipe from centre to edge.
