iPod touch My ipod touch doesn't show up in itunes, but shows up on windows as a "USB Device"

I got an iPod Touch 1stGen, firmware 2.0 or 2.1 (I can't remember). But anyways, it never worked, or showed up on my computer for some reason. But one day it put itself into recovery mode, and now I really need it to show up on my computer. When I plug it in I get a message that windows detected a "USB Device", twice. So I went into the device manager, and I got two ? marks that both said "USB Device", and I have no idea what to do.

It shows up on my brothers laptop, but I need it to show up on my computer.

Any ideas? I really need it fixed.

What version of Itunes are you using? If its not the latest version then the first step is upgrading.

i updated to the latest , nuthin happened

on my old comp that has no net it shows up so i haev no freakin idea
