My ISP Blocking BitTorrent Ports?

I am using Transmission, a Mac BitTorrent Client on my Mac OS X 10.9.2

but my ISP is blocking BitTorrent Ports.

Is there a work around ? to download torrent files...?

Could i get around this by using a VPN ? (like Strong VPN )

It's Asianet in Thailand.

I've been using a VPN and that seems to get around it,
but it does slow down the speed alot.
