My keyboards light wasn't working???

My keyboard light wasn't working, for some reason it all of a sudden just turned on at random but when i was using it a little while before it would not work. it was giving me a "block" picture. Does anyone know why this happend?

It probably thought it was too bright to turn it on.

Also, this is the forum for the Mac Pro desktop, I assume you were looking for the MacBook Pro forum.
