my left click on my mouse stops working intermittently - lion

I had to reformat my hd and re-install leopard 10.6 then upgraded to lion. I have an older mac pro. I already noticed that my mouse connected through usb stops working after a while but my touchpad works. I have used 2 mouses, a bluetooth one and a usb one. I did do a restore from a previous backup from os 10.5 . I am at lost, not sure why right click stops working. Should I reformat and start with a clean lion os? suggestions?
