Interesting... but I guess that makes sense.

Sure there will be the people who start camping out at 10pm the night before but realistically, I don't think the line will boom until 6am or so. And even then, how long/how far back in line must you be to NOT guarantee yourself a phone?

Even if you're 50th in line around 6am, you're still gonna get a phone... I would think.

And so by this you mean you called the store some 18 year old kid picks up the phone and just says "yea dude whatevr just get here by 5am youll get a phone....fart" and so it now deserves a thread for people to comment on....hahaha such a joke.

True...

I've never done the Apple store camp out or line up launch event before... how insane does it really get???

I wouldn't mind a 16gb Plus... wonder if that bumps my chances a bit.

Pro question to ask the person at the Apple store. Is this your first product launch with Apple?

I did the one for the 3GS and the line was around the building when we got there the night before. I stayed up all night with my friends and then went to work the next day. It was crazy, but I got an iPhone 3GS! :)

I went to Best Buy for the iPhone 4, mid-morning, was about 30th in line, took about 90 mins to get through everything. The Best Buy was across the street from the Apple store, which had the line wrapped around the building, took hours there I heard. From then on I pre-ordered. I would expect the iPhone 6 in 16GB and 128GB sizes to be available for awhile on launch day. And I expect more to be shipped on Saturday. So if you can wait a day that may be an option.

I got to the Apple Store in Metairie at 2000 hrs. the night before for the iPhone 4 launch and I was 33rd in line. Good luck with that.

That manager or even Tim Cook can not really guess well.

After all:

Almost nobody knows how many they will.
NOBODY knows how many people will be in line.
NOBODY knows out of those in line, which want the same model you want.
NOBODY knows what time any of those people will get in line.

NOBODY KNOWS.
