I have AppleCare plus. Can I get a new battery? This is really strange to lose 3% after only 40 cycles. This laptop is practically new. Is anyone else having this issue?

I wouldn’t call it an issue (yet). Battery capacity fluctuations of this magnitude are common and normal. If you see further rapid drops in capacity though, call Apple.

Lots of similar threads about this. Too early to worry, especially if that is a value provided by a third party app like Coconut or Better Battery 2. Third party apps use the ioreg value which fluctuates up and down.

It is the official battery health from apple on the MacBook. Coconut battery says 92% :(

Maybe you got a lemon. Unfortunately that happens.

Take it to the Genius bar and have it checked.

I wish I could but I live two and a half hours away from an apple store.

Keep your AC+, if and when it drops below 80% Apple will replace the battery, meanwhile, stop worrying about and enjoy your laptop

Battery one year old at 98%, 15 cycles.
Still plenty of time till 80%.
Enjoy life and enjoy Your Macbook.

Now down to 96% battery health. Apple chat wouldn’t do much about it yet.

I haven't decided yet. And i think Apple not to do anything while the battery capacity is more than 80%
