My M1 MBP doesn't deep sleep when battery is very low?

My previous MBPs have always gone into a deep sleep when battery got down to 0% and would wake again when plugged in.

My current M1 MBP seems to just shut off in that situation. Plugging it in again just has it boot normally, and everything I was working on is gone.

Is this normal?

Deep sleep doesn't exist on Apple Silicon AFAIK. You shouldn't run your battery down to 0% anways. Cell chemistry doesn't like that at all.
