My mac book pro wont boot up.

I have a 15 in mac book pro. I bought it in late 2007. I recently got some more RAM and a new battery for it. After I installed the new ram. I went to turn my computer on and it no longer boots up. It turns on and makes the starting chime but it just stays at the white screen. no apple logo appears and nothing else ever happens. I have tried setting the RAM several times as well as putting in the old RAM and also trying to use the old battery. but nothing has made a difference. Any idea what is wrong or if there is anything I can do? any help would be useful.

Yes it is compatable its DDR2
