I'll bet there will be new Mac Pro's (or BTO options) within the next month... cuz I just ordered myself one. Knowing me, something new will be released before I get mine... Its been a long and painful process since Mac's aren't easy to come by where I'm living... Its going to take at least 21 days to get to me, so I'm just hoping my dying HP laptop survives the stretch...
This will be my first mac, but I used to work on them when I did tech support for a major dial-up company 7 or 8 years ago... I've always said Mac's have had better hardware, but was always of the "I can build a PC for half the price" mindset... Not to mention I liked the tinkering inside the case. I've also always recommended to people, if they're gonna buy a mac, buy it the day its released. If I was still in Canada, where I'm from... it wouldn't have been a problem, but here I am, overseas, without a 100% functional computer, and no brand new macs out... I wanted to order the 8-core the day it came out, but there was a delay of a couple weeks before I could even get a quote...
So now... I am (trying to) patiently waiting for my:
Mac Pro
8 core
ATI 1900XT 512MB
Bluetooth/Airport
(base everything else)
24" Dell 2407WFP (let the lottery begin!)
I'll put in more drives when I scrounge up more cash after my software purchases...
As for the RAM, its way too expensive here, so I am waiting for confirmation of my order of 8GB from back home to top up the machine...
