My MacBook adjusts my mic volume, against my wishes, please help!

Is there a way to make my MacBook STOP automatically adjusting my microphone's volume? It's truly annoying. Turning off 'Use Ambient Noise Reduction' does not help.

I have the same problem on my macbook pro running OSX 10.5.8 and can`t find any solution. The microphone input level randomly changes up and down without any apparent reason. (not autogain)

Any more people with this problem? I am using Macbook OS X Mt Lion.

I have to keep readjusting the input volume as I speak.
