My Macbook Air (13" Mid 2011) with a processor which is supposed to run at 1.7 GHz just became useless. The processor clock stays at 800 MHz all the time, even when I run benchmark applications. I'm getting 1856 points in Geekbench when normally it is supposed to be slightly over 5300 :/
Anybody knows why is this happening?

If it is hot, it will spin down to 800MHz, though normally it shouldn't get too hot running at 1.7GHz. Check the power settings. If it continues, try resetting the SMC and PRAM.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest contacting Technical Support or going to a Genius Bar. You have 1 year of support included.

Thank you so much! Resetting the SMC solved the problem! Ufff...
