My 13" white MacBook is coming apart at the seems! Does Apple Care cover this?

I covered the open seems with fiber tape to keep the dirt out. Anyone else see this? I hope it's covered.

I've seen that happen with many, if not most, of the white MacBooks I've seen that are more than a year or two old. It's clearly a fairly widespread manufacturing issue with the plastic MacBooks. I doubt AppleCare would do anything for you, but you could try.

Well damn. You'd think they'd at least cover the body the machine comes in. Which brings me to my next question:

I've got a local Apple dealer called Simply Macintosh by me, would it be better to let them handle the corporate monster?

That should be covered. I had that happen to mine twice and they replaced the top case each time. I have heard that they cover it with or with out apple care.

Right on. Hopefully the local place can do it without sending it in.

I'd also love a black one that leaves the keyboard and mousepad white. Just to be different.:D

they can do it in store. it takes about an hour depending on how busy the store is. The new part also includes the keyboard and mouse

they will replace it even without applecare since it's a known defect in the macbooks. And it does take about a day depending how busy they are.
