I bought my macbook in late october of last year and I love it but the only thing is the battery life of it, it seems like it doesnt hold a full charge for more than 3 or 4 hours even though it's supposed to hold about 10, is there anything I can do to improve the battery life or where can I buy a better battery for it.
-thanks

what sorts of things are you doing with your computer? battery life will vary depending on usage. playing a dvd or gaming, for example, will deplete a battery much faster than word processing or lightly browsing the web.

well when I watch a movie, when I start it it's usually at 100% and when i'm done, usually an hour and a half movie or so, it's at like 45% or lower. and when I browse the web without watching a movie it usually only goes for 4-5 hours.

last year's MBP was only rated like 7 hours on minimum setings

You gotta understand, Apple probably is running absolute minimal tasks at the lowest possible backlight setting (no backlit keyboard) to get 10 hours out of it. Unfortunately it's a little bit misleading. I have the same laptop and usually expect 5-6 hours with normal backlight and 4-5 programs running at the same time. If the optical drive is running I'd expect it to cruise through pretty fast.

yeah i get that but there's nothing I can do to improve the battery just a little bit?

keyboard light off, screen on lower brightness, no use of the dvd drive

avoid flash/video sites
even flash ads can drain your battery quickly
bluetooth off if you don't need it

that's about all you can do
