I have a 15" Macbook Pro that I purchased 1.5 years ago. Today I found out that although I hook up the ethernet cable to my laptop there is still no connections. Can't access the internet. Network diagnostic says no connection either. I think my port is broken, does this happen often? Is it something that can be fixed? I am afraid its gonna be expensive, plus my warranty is expired already...

It can happen, the cheapest way to solve it might be to just get a USB to Ethernet adapter. You can get them for as little as $15.
