Hi everybody,
my MacBook Pro 15'' 2GHz Intel Core Duo is getting really hot after about 30 minutes of usage. Is this normal?

One of the reasons why Apple no longer calls their laptops "laptops" but "notebooks" is that they simply run too hot to keep them on ones lap comfortably. (really!)

Now, I'd say, as long as it doesn't act up weird and you can put your hand below it without the heat hurting you, it's perfectly normal.

How hot is sooooo hot. Use the istat widget and let us know the temperature. Then we can tell you if its unusual.

Hot Hot Hot

I just installed iStat. Under temps...which area am I checking to see if the bottom is the right temp. And what is the "right" or "exceptable" temp?

Sounds normal. I'm always surprised how hot my Mac laptops get the first few weeks.

They make a roll-up pad that stores in your laptop case which absorbs heat, cools the laptop--and keeps your legs from turning bright red, especially if you're wearing shorts.

Then, of course, there's always table tops.
