When I swipe or tap my iPhone 5s (with or without its Apple cover on, but mostly WITH my cover still on), near my 13" Early 2011 Macbook Pro's bottom left corner, my mac locks up. Then I have to enter my password again to get back to where I was before. I was just wondering if it is a feature that I accidentally discovered, or if anyone else has also seen this happen.

Try to individually turn off Bluetooth and wifi to see if that's how they are communicating?

Like hamiltonDSi said, the phone is most likely just triggering the sleep sensor of the MBP.
