My Macbook Pro Monitor wont turn on: how do I use another macbook monitor to see dtop

My Macbook monitor has crashed - it is just black - I can hear the fans and the boot so its just the monitor - this seems to be a common problem and I think I need to get it repaired. The question is can I use my wife's macbook to see my desktop? I have files I need now. Can I plug her computer into mine and use hers to access my desktop without being able to do anything on my computer? Is there any other way to see my desktop? Thanks in advance!

If you have Screen Sharing enabled, you could screen share.
If you have File Sharing enabled, you could share files.
If both Macs have Firewire: Target Disk Mode
