So here's a weird thing. My macbook slows down everyone's internet! When I am connected the internet will work fine for a few minutes and then suddenly, seemingly for no reason, everyone's internet slows down to a crawl. The moment i turn off my wifi, it speeds up for everyone.
I have been looking at the network monitor and suddenly it starts sending a bunch of data - like 100kb/s. I don't have any torrents running, and it seems to happen even if everything is closed. I tried switching off iCloud and all its syncing services but it seems to still happen.
Weirdly, this only happens on my home network. Every network I've been on has not produced this problem. Does this make it a router problem? I have tried connecting directly to the modem and it works fine. It has PPOE encryption, if that means anything to anyone.
Any ideas? This problem has lasted for months and we only just worked out my computer was doing this!
Many thanks in advance,
Tim
